Fred Morphis, Jr., 86, of Rives passed away 11:20 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2015, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Jeff Bell will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Reuben Morphis, Derrick Morphis, Bruce Clark, Dylan Trout, Jason Trout
and Judson Belote.
Mr. Morphis was born June 11, 1929, in Obion County, son of the late Fred Morphis, Sr. and the late Mary (Qualls) Morphis. He married Inez (Polk) Morphis August 12, 1953. She survives. Mr. Morphis was a retired bulldozer operator and a member of Bishop Street Church of Christ. He served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War.
He is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Nickie Clark of Martin and Karen and Jimmy Trout of Union City; one brother, Gene Paul Morphis of Valparaiso, Indiana; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Kelly Morphis of Union City, Derrick and Kandi Morphis of Rives, Bruce and Vicki Clark of South Fulton, Dylan and Sadye Trout of Troy, Jason Trout of Memphis and Shannon and Judson Belote of Cordova; seven great grandchildren, Austin Morphis and Addison Morphis both of Rives, Reuben Morphis of Union City, Dylan Clark and Nicole Clark both of South Fulton, Paisley Claire Trout of Troy and Skylar Belote of Cordova; one great great granddaughter, Lena Clark of Union City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, James Robert Morphis and George "Freddie" Morphis; three sisters, Thelma Summers, Lavern Davis and Wilma Cruce; and one grandson, Jeremy Lynn Trout.
