Fred Carney 1933-2011
Mr. Fred Carney, 77, of Union City died 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Danny Jones and Brother Wayne McLean will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery .
The family will receive friends in the Rosewood Room at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Dusty Ward, Jason Eakes, Trent Cary, Jordan Ward, Dale Jones and Darrell Jones.
Mr. Carney was born October 29, 1933, in Obion County, son of the late John Carney Sr. and Ovella (Hawks) Carney. He married the former Wanda Pierce on November 22, 1963. She died October 11, 2009. He was a retired painter, a member of St. James Episcopal Church and attended Oak Street Community Church in Union City and was an avid baseball fan.
Mr. Carney is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Calvin Cary of Union City; his brother, Jack Carney of Greenville, Texas; his granddaughter and her husband, Brandy and Jason Eakes of Union City; his grandson and his wife, Dusty and Danielle Ward of Paducah, Kentucky; two step grandsons and the spouse of one, Travis Cary of Winter Garden, Florida and Trent and Robin Cary of Union City; seven great grandchildren and the spouse of one, Jordan and Alyssa Ward, Tanner Cary and Tatum Cary all of Union City, Breonna Ward of Martin, Chance Dunn, Elizabeth Herzog and Tristian Herzog all of Paducah, Kentucky; and his great great granddaughter, Riley Ward of Union City.
He was preceded in death by his son, Sherman Carney; his brother, John Carney Jr.; and three sisters, Adelle Earp, Virginia Powell and Jeanette Garrison.
