Mr. Eugene Franklin Tippit, 73, of Ridgely died 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
At Mr. Tippit's request there will be no services.
Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.
Mr. Tippit was born February 4, 1941, in Obion County, son of the late Edgar and Agnes (Massey) Tippit. He married Bonnie (Lee) Tippit in 1972. She survives. Mr. Tippit had been employed as a jailer and dispatcher for the Lake County Sheriff's Department and had been the owner and operator of the former Ridgely Tire Store. He was a member of Minnick Bible Church.
He is also survived by his stepson, Gregory Lee Bryant of Savannah; his granddaughter, Chloe Grace Bryant of Waynesboro; and one brother and three sisters-in-law, Howard and Susan Tippit of Ridgely, Joan Tippit of Dyersburg and Regina Tippit of Tiptonville.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Don Tippit and Dale Tippit.
