Obituary

Mrs. Ellen Jane (Stephens) Kimble, 76, of Union City went home to be with the Lord at 1:40 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Eddie Mallonee will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Ervin, Jerry Bailey, Mark Ward, Maurice Carroll, Henry Inmon, Brad Boucher and Bob Kirkland.

The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday.

Ellen was born November 6, 1934, in Gadsden, Alabama, daughter of the late Macon Lee Stephens and the late Alice (Hare) Stephens Bradley. She married Wayne Kimble on April 10, 1953. He survives. She had been employed at Simms Murphy Clinic in Union City and was a homemaker. Mrs. Kimble was a member of Second Baptist Church where she had been a member of the choir and the Trailblazers Sunday School class. She was a former member of the 39 ers Group at First Baptist Church where she organized many of the trips for that group.

She is also survived by two daughters and her son-in-law, Stephanie and Mike Moseley of Rock Island, Tennessee and Libby Nunnelee of Union City; her son, Mike Kimble of Cordova; two brothers, Sam Stephens of Union City and Edwin Stephens of Boaz, Alabama; her sister, Sara Chatham of Naples, Florida; eight grandchildren, Christopher Moseley of Columbus, Ohio, Sarah Stiles of Nashville, Alyxandra Nunnelee, David Nunnelee and Daniel Nunnelee all of Union City, Lydia Craft of Memphis and Kelsey Kimble and Kassie Kimble both of Cordova; and four great-grandchildren, Noah Moseley and Owen Moseley both of Columbus, Ohio and Hailey Craft and Shawn Craft both of Memphis.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Amos Stephens and Donald Stephens.
