Mr. Evan Hugh "E.H." Jernigan, 68, of Hornbeak died 11:05 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Dale True and Brother William Matheny will officiate. Burial will follow in Hornbeak City Cemetery .

Mr. Jernigan was born October 21, 1941, in Lauderdale County, son of the late Evan Hugh Jernigan Sr. and the late Esther Louise (Davis) Jernigan Cook. He married the former Linda Jerden on July 8, 1961. She survives. He was a retired self employed carpenter, a member of Graves Chapel Church of God and a former alderman for Town of Hornbeak for eight years.

He is also survived by his daugher and son-in-law, Lisa (Jernigan) & Dewayne Deal of Dyersburg; his son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Tallyann Jernigan of Bayport, New York; his granddaughter, Grace Anne Deal of Dyersburg; and his sister, Louise Bruce of Troy.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Davis Eugene Jernigan and James Franklin Jernigan.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday.

Pallbearers to serve will be Dewayne Wilson, Michael Hamm, Scott Webb, Dale Woodward, Wayne Williams and Jerry Ray Cunningham.
