Obituary

Arvin Dwight Henderson, 81, of South Fulton passed away 12:10 p.m. Saturday July 27, 2024, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Daniel Arguera and Brother Stephen Cavness will officiate. Burial will follow in Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads.

Visitation will be be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Dwight Henderson, Jordan Cherry, Wyatt Walker, B.J. Morris, Josh Paul, Justin Wilson, Wayland Boyd, Brandon Baker and Deacon Hill.

Honorary pallbearers will be his great grandchildren.

Dwight was born November 26, 1942, in Jackson, Michigan, son of the late Louis Henry and Frances Glynn (Ford) Henderson. He married Betty (Paul) Henderson October 31, 1963. Dwight served in the United States Air Force during the Cuban missile crisis. He had been employed at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Jackson, Michigan and Union City and retired after 40 years of service. Dwight enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, fishing, yard work, traveling  and working on electronics. He volunteered every year with Wreaths Across America placing wreaths on graves of veterans.

He is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Betty Henderson of South Fulton; two daughters, Laura Hill and husband Herman of Morganfield, Kentucky and Paula Walker and husband Scott of the Latham community; one son, Dwight Henderson and wife Paula of Clarksville; five grandchildren, Jordan Cherry and wife Ashley of Troy, Wyatt Walker and wife Destinee of the Latham community, Jacob Butler and wife Brittany of Lawton, Oklahoma, Joshua Butler and wife Amber of Martin and Deacon Hill of Morganfield, Kentucky; five great grandchildren, Hazel Cherry and Polly Cherry both of Troy, Elston Walker and Emalyn Walker both of the Latham community and Ellie Butler of Lawton, Oklahoma; and one brother, Bill Henderson of Lakeland, Florida.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Karon Day; one brother, Louis Henderson; and his beloved golden retriever, Callie Ann.
