Funeral services for Don and Doris Day will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2023, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Rev. Brad Jordan will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services Monday, January 9, 2023.

Doris was born May 16, 1933, in Hokes Bluff, Alabama, daughter of the late Walter and Rose (Wise) Gidley. She passed away September 1, 2022 at The Waters of Union City. Doris was married to Don Day for 71 years. She retired as an instructional assistant with the Union City School System after 20 years of service. Doris was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.

Don was born August 10, 1931, in Etowah County, Alabama, son of the late Arthur Donzle and Nettie Ann (Collins) Day. He passed away December 14, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. Don retired as shift supervisor from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Union City. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Don was an avid golfer and had managed the Wingfoot Golf Course for several years.

Don and Doris are survived by their daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Rick Staroski of Union City; their son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Kate Day of Spafford, New Hampshire; two grandchildren, Julia Day and her husband Kyle Lowers of Pullman, Washington and Patrick Day and his fiancé Trish Fogarty of New Hampshire; and their great granddaughter, Ella Rose Lowers of Pullman, Washington. Doris is also survived by one sister, Myra Greene of Hokes Bluff, Alabama.
