Mrs. Dolores Walsh Quinton, 90, formerly of South Fulton, TN, passed away Friday evening, June 12, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City, TN.
Mrs. Quinton was born February 21, 1936, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Fred and Marie Walsh. She married the late Eugene Brown "Jack" Quinton on April 24, 1955.
Raised in Staten Island, New York, she developed secretarial and business skills at Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and Brooklyn College, from shorthand to office administration, and the professionalism valued in the workplace of the 1950s. In 1965, she and Jack moved their six children to Palmersville, Tennessee, and established their family farm. She managed the challenges of farm wife and mother while working full-time. She also earned a BS degree in Commercial and Financial Management in 1980 from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Ultimately, her professional career progressed from office management to purchasing agent to contract specialist for multiple federal agencies. True to her independent spirit she traveled the world to places few get to experience.
Dolores was known for her vibrant personality, epitomized by her quick wit, easy laughter, and bright smile. She had a gift for keeping in touch with people, often using her administrative skills to stay connected with family and friends. She remembered names, relationships, milestones, and stories, serving as an unofficial keeper of news for a wide circle of family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren. No one would ever accuse her of being a doting wife, mother, or grandmother, but she knew how to tell the truth, offer encouragement, love faithfully, and do it all with humor and humanity.
She was a devoted parishioner of St. Edward Parish in Fulton, KY. Her Catholic faith was her spiritual foundation and the centerpiece of a community of dear faithful friends.
Dolores is survived by two daughters, Laura Quinton of Orlando, FL, and Lisa Morgan (Joe) of Palmersville, TN; three sons, the Rev. John Quinton (Gail) of Crawfordville, FL, Kenneth Quinton (Lana) of Sturgis, KY, and William “Bill” Quinton (Heather) of Union City, TN; eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sister Annette Johnsen Melo and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Jack, she was preceded in death by a daughter, the Rev. Jewel Quinton, a grandson, Luke Quinton, and brothers Freddy and Bob Walsh.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20th, at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home in Union City, TN. The Rev. John Quinton and other family members will officiate. Interment will follow in Terrace Hill Cemetery, in Troy, TN, where the Rite of Committal will be conducted by Father Anthoni Ottagan.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. before the service on Saturday.
