Obituary

Mr. Denson B. Ermis, 80, of the Midway community died 11:02 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Obion County Nursing Home after a long illness.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday at Stanley Chapel United Methodist Church near Union City, with Rev. Terry Council and Rev. Frank Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Stanley Chapel United Methodist Church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services Monday.

Pallbearers will be retired USMC Lt. Col. Link Patton Ermis, Sgt. Cord McCrary Ermis, Capt. Slade Bentley Ermis, Lt. J.G. Nicholas Sweet, Chase Winter Boone and Charles Vincent Ermis.

The family requests memorials be made to Wounded Warrior Project .

Mr. Ermis was born June 7, 1933, in Cameron, Texas, son of the late John Joe and Annie (Kamenicky) Ermis. He married the former Mary Winter November 25, 1960. She survives. He attended Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where he played football, and he served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of Stanley Chapel United Methodist Church and had retired from Energy Future Holdings of Dallas, Texas after 29 years of service.

He is also survived by his daughter, Amanda Blount Ermis of Germantown; two sons and his daughter-in-law, Link Patton and Jana Ermis of Huntsville, Texas, and Cord McCrary Ermis of Cherry Point, North Carolina; his sister, Mary Frances Weberg of Bennington, Nebraska; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
