Obituary

Mr. Harry Dean Parnell, 83, of Hickman, Kentucky passed away 1:36 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2020, at The Waters of Union City.

In compliance with health and public safety directives, the funeral arrangements for Mr. Parnell will be private.

Burial will be in Hickman City Cemetery Sunday.

Pallbearers will be Matt Moss, John Cagle, Gary Coots, Jason Giles, Brandon Woolf, Austin Ingle and Dan Parnell.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Parnell was born September 5, 1936, in Lake County, son of the late Willie Bob and Faye (Green) Parnell. He attended Lake County High School and was a graduate of Navah Christian Teaching Center. Dean had served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean Era and the Kentucky National Guard. He had owned Claude's "Dean's" Drive In in Hickman for many years, was chief of police for the city of Hickman for several years and retired from Northwest Tennessee Correctional Facility in Tiptonville after 24 years of service. Dean was a member of Abundant Life Fellowship in Ridgely.

He is survived by two daughters, Kandy Coots (Gary) of Brentwood and Penny Fleming (John) of Hickman, Kentucky; one son, Joe Parnell (Lindsay) of Martin; six grandchildren, Amanda Cagle (John) of Union City, Matt Moss of Hickman, Kentucky, Ashton Giles (Jason) of South Fulton, Amber Woolf (Brandon) of Sharon, Brooke Parnell of Martin and Bailee Coots of Brentwood; and three great grandchildren, Ella Cagle, Mattie McCrae Giles and Nataleigh Woolf.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clay Parnell and Purvis Parnell.
