Dean Jowers, 71, of South Fulton passed away 11:57 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Shawn White will officiate. Entombment will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Justin Muse, Andy Sampson, Jason Pate, Jason Oldaker, Jason Crabtree and Greg Gray.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Excel Boats.
Dean was born December 6, 1951, in Union City, son of the late Carl D. and Magdalene "Maggie" (Maness) Jowers. He married Regina (Crabtree) Jowers on December 28, 1990. She survives. Dean retired from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 32 years, was the retired owner and operator of Mail & More in Union City for 10 years and at the time of his death worked part time as a transporter for Excel Boats in Union City. He had served in the Tennessee National Guard and the Tennessee Air National Guard in Memphis. Dean was a former Obion County Commissioner and was a member of Woodland Mills First Baptist Church.
He is also survived by two daughters, Stacy Sampson and husband Andy of Houston, Texas and Kim Griffith Johnson of Union City; one son, Justin Muse and wife Kelly of Loveland, Colorado; one sister, Kay Meadows of Kenton; one brother, Danny Jowers of Kenton; ten grandchildren, Alissa Sampson (JonAlek), Alona Axtell (Austin), Aleigha Sampson, Avery Johnson, Kailey Guiden, Waylon Muse, Mazie Muse, Rachel Hardy (Jacob), Dylan Jowers and Madison Jowers; three great grandchildren, Elianna Harrison, Benton Hardy and Fisher Hardy; his sister-in-law, Mary Crabtree of South Fulton; and two brothers-in-law, Johnny Meadows of Rutherford and Ronnie Crabtree and wife Karen of South Futon.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Bret Jowers who passed away April 27, 2023; and two sisters, Ann Tidwell and Carlene Meadows.
