Mr. Fred David Phillips, 76, of Troy died 12:28 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Marvin Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in Anioch Cemetery in the Crystal community.
Mr. Phillips was born July 18, 1934, in Perry County, Illinois, son of the late William Roy Phillips and the late Ruby Ellen (Rice) Keller. He was a retired self-employed contractor who had also owned a lawn service. A United States Army veteran, he was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and had had a nursing home ministry for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Lee) Phillips whom he married on July 5, 1957; his daughter, Terry Phillips of Troy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Annette Phillips of Belton, Missouri and Danny and Angie Phillips of Hornbeak; his brother, Ray Phillips of Union City; two sisters, Mary Brayfield of Benton, Illinois and Pauline Burton of Johnson City, Illionis; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica and Doug Maddox of Ridgely, Ben and Beth Phillips of Union City and Katherine Phillips and Andrew Phillips both of Belton, Illionis; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Phillips and Mason Phillips both of Union City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Danny Phillips, Ben Phillips, Doug Maddox, Ned Bigelow, Tom Pituch and J.R. Dunn.
