On August 31, 2020, David Gene Hargrove, loving father of two daughters, passed away at age 81.

David was born on December 2, 1938 in Woodland Mills, TN. Born the middle of five children to the late Richards Sears Hargrove, Sr. and Lovie Christine (Gray) Hargrove. He was a retired Mattel tool and die maker in Murray, Ky. for over 15 years.

David was a meek man that enjoyed old muscle cars, watching sports, working on his 13 acres, and spending time with his family. He often spoke of youthful, carefree times while living in Chicago. His black '57 Chevy was his pride and joy. He told stories of putting the title on the dash, telling the passenger "if you can grab it, you can have it," and then punching the accelerator and throwing them back into the seat.

After Chicago, David settled down in Kenton, TN in his early 20's where he raised his daughters, coached little league, was a member of the Jaycees, and a respected member of the community. He was a member of Kenton Church of Christ and also taught Sunday school for a period of time. He lived the life of a patriot, always buying American made goods. His analytical and precise mechanical mind made him an excellent craftsman in his career which carried over as a woodworking hobbyist. Unpretentiously smart, he drafted and designed several specialty molds that were sold directly to GMC. In retirement, David moved to Springfield, TN to be closer to his daughters and grandsons which endearingly called him, Papa.

He is survived by his daughters, Karen Rigsby (Russell) and Lucinda Shore, his grandsons, Zach Shore and Grayson Shore, his brother, Richard Sears Hargrove, Jr. as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by three siblings, Arnold Hargrove, Jerry Hargrove, and Katie Guess.

Family visitation is scheduled in Union City for 3P.M. on Thursday, September 3rd at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Graveside services are schedule for 4P.M. at East View Cemetery with Pastor Ron Gray officiating.
