David Thomas Choate, 59, of Obion passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Obion. Brother Charles Southerland will officiate.

There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Choate, Mark Choate, Cody Wetzel, Gary Southerland, Bradley Southerland, John Moore and Tony Gammons.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

David was born August 23, 1965, in Tiptonville, son of Tommy Choate and the late Margaret Ann (Douglas) Choate. He married Diana (Newsom) Choate June 24, 1988. David had been employed as a machinist for Heckethorn in Dyersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Diana Choate of Obion; his father, Tommy Choate of Obion; two children, Ashley Wetzel and husband Cody of Hornbeak and Kyle Choate of Obion; one grandson, Michael Choate of Obion; two brothers, Ricky Choate and wife Brandy of Hornbeak and Mark Choate and wife Deborah of Obion; and his father-in-law, Gilbert Newsom of Obion.

He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Carolyn Newsom.
