Danny Glynn Thompson, Sr., 73, of Union City passed away 2:02 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, at The Waters of Union City.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Fremont Cemetery near Union City. Brother Henry Callison will officiate.

There will be no visitation. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38148-0142.

Danny was born November 26, 1945, in Obion County, son of the late William Matthew Thompson and the late Martha Dell (Ross) Thompson Hamblen. He was a retired building contractor and of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Doris (McCollum) Thompson of Union City; one daughter, Dana Thompson Wright (Chris) of Union City; two sons, Danny Glen Thompson, Jr. of Union City and William Shaye Pirtle of Fulton, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Terra Thompson Young and Peyton Neyland Lee Wright both of Union City and William Blake Thompson of Hickman, Kentucky; two great grandsons, Hunter Young and Dylan Young both of Union City; three sisters, Susan Thompson Johnson Rearden (Stuart) of Cloverport, Kentucky, Billie Dell Thompson Carter of Union City and Annette Hamblen Myers of Troy; and one brother, Jeff Hamblen of Troy.

He was also preceded in death by his son, William Shane Thompson; his foster son, Brent Allen Johnson; and one brother, Robert "Bob" Hamblen.
