Mr. Glen Dale Pate,76, of Union City passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2026, after a life well lived.
Glen was born July 6, 1950, in Troy to the late Joe and Estral Pate. He married Margaret Dell (Haggard) Pate on June 7, 1974. She survives. Glen was a loving husband, daddy, and a cherished PawPaw. He worked 32 years at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, providing for his family with hard work and dedication. After retirement, he found a new calling behind the wheel of a school bus, driving hundreds of children to the former Ridgemont Elementary as a friendly face to start and end each day. Many of the students never forgot him and would still come up saying hello whenever they saw him out and about. Dale was a member of Troy First Baptist Church.
He had a big heart, and nothing brought him more joy than serving others in their time of need as a deacon, friend, and man of God. If someone had a need, he was there, often before they had to ask. He found great joy in life's small things, like a cold Diet Coke (in a can), a good laugh, and early mornings spent over breakfast and coffee with friends.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret Pate of Union City; his children, Jennifer Pate and Jason (Melissa) Pate of Union City; his grandsons, Jaxon and Reid Pate of Union City; and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and William Pate of Kentucky, and one sister, Iva Pate of Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Beulah Baptist Association for the Chosen Children Mission Trip or simply honor him by doing a kind act for someone in need.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Rick Roberts will officiate. Burial will follow in Beech Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday.
