Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at East Side Cemetery in Martin. Brother Fady Al-Hagal will officiate.

Dakota was born May 9, 1997, in Martin, son of Daniel Lee and Tina Dawn (Hooper) Southerland. He was in the sixth grade at Martin Middle School , a member of the Panther football team,  a member of Boy Scout Troop 11 in Martin and a member of The Shepherd's Field Church in Martin .

He is also survived by his sister, Danielle Starr Southerland of Martin; his grandparents, George and Jan Hooper of South Fulton, Steve and Trish Becker of Troy, William Southerland of Shawtown and Frances Blackley of Martin; his great grandmother, Estelle Southerland of Union City; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday.

Pallbearers to serve will be:  Michael Rhodes, C.J. Ellis, Walter Parson, Jeff Southerland, John Franklin, Dossie Wright and Jeff Cook.

Honorary pallbearers to serve will be members of Martin Boy Scout Troop 11.

A trust fund has been established for the family at First State Bank, 109 University St, Martin, Tennessee  38237.
