Linda Dale (Thompson) Jones was born June 18, 1943. She was the first daughter of the late Nell Summers and Olan Dale Thompson. She grew up in Obion and was Valedictorian of the class of 1961 at the former Obion High School. Linda pursued a career as a registered nurse and decided to join the Army nurse corps in 1977. She was called to active duty during Operation Desert Storm. Linda retired from the United States Army having attained the rank of Colonel.
Linda was introduced to Doug Jones by a mutual friend in Columbia, South Carolina. They first got to know each other through long phone conversations, where Doug was especially drawn to Linda's beautiful laugh. Their friendship blossomed into love, and they were married on May 5, 2004.
Linda and Doug moved back to Obion County in 2018 to be closer to their children, grandchildren, and growing number of great-grandchildren. She was a member of Cornerstone Community Church in Obion. Linda found great joy in hosting her book club, playing piano, antiquing, working puzzles, and spending time in her garden.
She is survived by her husband Doug Jones of Obion; two daughters, Mary Glover Jackson (Andy) of Nashville and Natalie Glover Terry of Obion; two step-sons, Mark Jones (Mary) of Ft. Mill, South Carolina and Michael Jones (Yvonne) of Summerville, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Spencer Terry (Brittany) of Obion, Laura Beth Hodge (John) of Nashville, Rebecca Plowman (Kevin) of Nashville, Shelby Foster (John) of Obion, Brandon Terry of Obion and Robert Jackson (Yukki) of Nashville; five step-grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one brother, Chet Thompson (Mary) of Kingstree, South Carolina.
