Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Jerry Leggett and Brother George Hutchison will officiate. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Jason Montgomery, Robert Clemmons, Duke Montgomery, Donnie Montgomery, Gary Montgomery and Doug Montgomery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Grady, Raymond Morris, Charles Harris, Golden Mathis, Bobby Rankin, Roland Davis, Bobby Crocker, Jimmy Bell, Jim Pate, Tommy Jerden and James "Bubba" Smith.
Mr. Montgomery was born November 2, 1924, in Obion County, the oldest son of the late Amos Etheridge and Beulah Ann (Morris) Montgomery. He was a retired carpenter and farmer and of the Assembly of God faith. Mr. Montgomery served as a Obion County Commissioner for 18 years, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served in the United States Coast Guard in World War II.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Nell Montgomery Dotson and Kitty Montgomery Rhoades and David Rhoades Jr. all of Samburg; his son and daughter-in-law, Teddy and Joanne Montgomery of Troy; his step daughter and his step son-in-law, Cathy and Tony Vazquez of Troy; his sister, Charlotte Hogg of Samburg; five brothers, Dennis Montgomery of Troy, Dan "Wart" Montgomery of Samburg, Wayne Montgomery of the Hop In community and Hale C. Montgomery and Eddie Montgomery both of Union City; five grandchildren, Jason Montgomery of Troy, Ginger Dotson of Jackson, Robert Clemmons of Obion, Amber Clemmons of Samburg and Teresa Grissom of Nashville; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Corey Montgomery; his step son, Gerald Di Chiara; three brothers, Paul Richard Montgomery, Duke Montgomery and Donnell Montgomery; and his infant sister, Imer Sue Montgomery.
