Obituary

Claude Nelson West, 74, of Hickman, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord 5:03 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday at First Pentecostal Church. Rev. Michael Couch, Rev. Dwayne Uzzle and Rev. Billy Uzzle will officiate. Burial will follow in Hickman City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael West, J.T. West, Javin West, Jarrett West, Zachary Hopkins, Zane Hopkins, Phillip Uzzle and Bubba Roberts.

Visitation will be held at First Pentecostal Church from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Sunday.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Claude was born March 17, 1947, in Monticello, Kentucky, son of the late Fred and Sarilda (Young) West. He married Renda (Godsey) West October 30, 1965. She survives. Claude served as a medic in the 25th Infantry in the United States Army during Vietnam where he received a bronze star and purple heart. He was a active member of First Pentecostal Church in Union City.

He is also survived by one daughter, Christie Hopkins (Alan) of Luling, Louisiana; two sons, Michael West (Stacy) and J.T. West (Marla) all of Hickman, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Jaslyn Hopkins, Zane Hopkins, Zachary Hopkins, Jayna Hopkins, Javin West, Jarett West; his granddog, Tinker Bell; two great grandchildren, Ryleigh Jae West and Kohen West; three sisters, Peggy Uzzle of Hickman, Kentucy, Connie Antle of Monticello, Kentucky and Melissa East of London, Kentucky; one brother, John West of Mooresville, North Carolina; his step mother, Pearl West of Monticello, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Johnathan West; three sisters, Ruby Decker, Thelma Johnson and Mary Alice West; and two brothers, James West and Timothy West.
