Mrs. Clara Marie Hayes, 78, of Batavia, Illinois, and formerly of the Polk Station community died January 14, 2010 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Illinois.

Graveside services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Old Troy Cemetery. Dan Huggins will officiate. The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:35 p.m. Tuesday.


She was born on December 22, 1931, in Iuka, Illinois, daughter of the late Forest and Dorothy (Carter) Bumgarner.


Clara is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Libbye Hayes of Union City; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Brian Jones and Lisa and Dan DeVaney of Batavia, Illinois and Christi and Roger Crome of Sycamore, Illinois; five grandchildren and the spouses of two, Heather (Jon) Kits, Eric Hayes, Jacob Engelbach, Chad Engelbach and Nicky (Shawna) Brooks; and twelve great-grandchildren Kala, Blake, Jonah, Devon, Haley, Derrick, Lucas, Brayden, Chelsea, Garrett, Casey and Nicole; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Betty Lou Bumgarner of Xenia, Illinois; and two sisters, Thelma Green and Betty Schuermann both of Geneva, Illinois.


She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Hayes, an infant daughter, Deborah Lee, an infant brother, Dwayne, and her sister, Gladys; and two brothers-in-law, Terry Green and Ron Schuermann.
