Cissa brought joy and love to all who knew her, and she loved everyone with the pure love of a child. She loved with all of her heart and never met a stranger. The great loves of Cissa's life were numerous, with Jesus and Mama being her favorites. Watching her large collection of Bill Gaither Homecoming videos brought incredible joy to Cissa, and one could often hear her humming along to them in her room. Meeting Bill and Gloria Gaither was one of many highlights in her life, as well as singing along to Mary Did You Know with Mark Lowry at a backstage meet and greet.
Cissa led a rich and full life and loved staying in hotels and eating at Chili's, Steak and Shake, and McDonalds. She loved watching construction equipment and would excitedly say, "Look, Mama, work, work, work" and point out the window. She loved to laugh with her family and friends, help with simple household chores, look at favorite photos, and play the Old Maid card game. Cissa loved her birthday beyond measure and was excited for weeks leading up to it. She loved to call family members on their birthdays joining in on a chorus of "Happy Birthday," always ending it with her signature, "and many more." Most of all, Cissa loved to talk. Though her vocabulary was limited, she had a wildly animated voice and made everyone excited listening to her stories. She loved to talk about the cows in the field, her cat, big trucks on the road, and who was at church.
Cissa loved her church family at Stanley's Chapel Methodist Church in Union City where she was a lifelong member. Cissa played the angel in many Christmas programs at church and excitingly told everyone, "Me Angel." She knew everyone by name and loved to give hugs and kisses. She was also a faithful member of the Hunter Hynds Unit of the Women in Faith.
After completing her education at Lake Road School, she attended the former Community Developmental Services in Martin. She made many lifelong friends from her time at school and enjoyed outings with them and participating in many Special Olympics events through the years.
Cissa is survived by her sister, Serena (John) Blanton, and two brothers, Johnny (Lori) McTurner, and Philip McTurner, as well as niece Emma Blanton, nephews Jacob (Sarah) Blanton, Jon Paul McTurner, Jace Pollock, Grant Larcom, and Lance (Lauren) Lofton;numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lacy and Betty Jane Barnes and her uncle, Larry Barnes.
