Charles Albert "Chuck" Doughten, 70, of Union City passed away 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Gary Doughten and Pastor Rick Hawes, former pastor of Faith Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Mike Nooner, Jeff Kilpatrick, Randy Morris, Eric Doughty, Glen Dowden, Jeff Kincade, Jack Doughten and Dr. Dylan Bondurant.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews, Kenny Park, Morgan Hilton, Melanie Morris, Shane Morris, Bobby R. Doughten, Weldon Doughten, Jimmy Doughten, Matthew Doughten, Kerri Everett, Deanne Mosley, Angela Armstrong, Samantha Scott, Tyler Scott and Isaiah Southerland and Paul Yates, Wayne Davidson, Dave Short and Al Gansert.
Chuck was born September 27, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Malcolm Clinton Doughten and Emma Marguerite (Daughtery) Doughten Brewer. He married Mollie (Harris) Doughten February 27, 1969 in Augsburg, Germany. She survives. Chuck retired after 30 years of service in the shipping department at the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He served in the United States Army in Munich and Augsburg, Germany and was a avid fisherman and flint knapper. He had been involved in Boy Scouts for many years. Chuck was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Union City for 44 years. He was known to all of his good friends as Chucky D. He was a outdoor person that enjoyed working in his yard before becoming ill. Chuck loved his family so much and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He never met a stranger and enjoyed meeting friends for morning coffee and breakfast.
He is also survived by two sons, Eric (Ria) Doughten and Benjamin Doughten and his fiancé Haydee Sambilloza all of Union City; three sisters, Laura (Mike) Scott of Troy, Patricia (Greg) Southerland of Martin and Katherine (Steve) Wolfe of Coldwater, Mississippi; two brothers, William Richard (Carolyn) Doughten of Troy and Gary Doughten of Paris; three grandchildren, Payten Doughten, Jada Doughten, and Benjamin Doughten; was known as Papa to Ashley Park, Kenny Park, Koren Park, Allison Floyd and Landon Pruett; three sisters-in-law, Gloria Harris, Sheila Harris and Nancy Harris all of Union City; his little dog, Atticus; and several cousins.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Sybil Doughten; three brothers, Robert Doughten, David Doughten and Mark Doughten; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, L.C. and Marcy Harris, his sister-in-law, Gail (Harris) Morris; one nephew, Jarrod Hilton; one niece, Whitley Southerland; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dale and Peggy Arabie.
