Charles Wesley "Chuck" Byrd, 37, of Troy passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon, April 21, 2023, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Steve Gatlin will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Rainey, Austin Anton, Hunter Taylor, Anthony Williams, Ashton Lewis, Paul "Bear" Crumby, Lester Galbraith and Jamie Hall.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to benefit Chuck's son Teddy. Checks can be made to OCCHS Class of 2004, c/o Natalie Huebner, 989 North Old Troy Road, Union City, Tennessee 38261.

Chuck was born October 5, 1985, in Fort Benning, Georgia, son of David and Sarah (McIlwain) Kay of Union City. He was a 2004 graduate of Obion County Central High School. Chuck was employed as a internal salesman for Verizon Wireless. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Atlanta Braves fan. Chuck was a horror movie fanatic and was a contributor for the Horror Squad podcast.

He is also survived by his son, Teddy Byrd of Obion; one brother, Jonathan Byrd (Jessica) of Union City; his grandfather, Charles McIlwain of Union City; two bonus sisters, Aleigha Walker of Union City and Dixie Walker of Troy; and his uncles and aunts, Joe and Ally Lewis of Woodland Mills, Danny and Tracy Kay and Wayne and Anita Peltier all of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Joe and Katherine Tallent of Clinton, Tennessee; and several cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, J.T Kay, Charlie and Josephine Vollmer; Doreen McIlwain and Clara McIlwain.
