Mrs. Charlou "Cha Che" (Hayes) Murphy, 94, of Union City died 10:20 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Union City Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Second Baptist Church in Union City. Brother Jerry Leggett and Brother Eddie Mallonee will officiate. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.

The family will receive friends at Second Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of services on Sunday.

Pallbearers will be David Clay Hogan, Jr., Greg Hurley, Tim Bunch, Mike Hayes, Bruce Moss and Robert Hurt.

Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Murphy was born June 17, 1918, in Obion County, daughter of the late Walter Darnell and Kahoma (Davis) Hayes. She married Jesse B. Murphy, Sr. on June 9, 1937. He died April 7, 1991. She had served as part time postmistress in Samburg for many years and had helped her husband farm. Mrs. Murphy was a member of Second Baptist Church in Union City.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Murphy) and David Hogan of Lakeland; her son and daughter-in-law, J.B. Murphy, Jr. and Pam Murphy of Reelfoot Lake; five grandchildren and the spouses of three; David Clay Hogan, Jr. and Carrie-Ann Hogan of Lakeland, Greg and Lacy Hurley of Eads; Jacque and Chris Layfield of Nashville, Jessica Murphy of Atlanta, Georgia and Kelley Murphy of Reelfoot Lake; and five great-grandchildren, Ivy Collier Hogan and David Clay Hogan, III both of Lakeland, Gregory Vance Hurley, Jr. and Breck Hogan Hurley both of Eads and Ryan Layfield of Nashville.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Moss and Reggie Bunch; and five brothers, Marvin Hayes, Lee Hayes, Chester Hayes, Lloyd Hayes and Floyd Hayes.
