Obituary

Charlotte Ann (Cashon) Smith, 85, of Union City passed away 11:35 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Rev. Billy McGarity will officiate. Burial will follow in Hornbeak City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.W. Storey, J.W. Shelton, Sammy Snead, Sr. and elders of Grace Presbyterian Church.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Grace Presbyterian Church, 123 N. Main Street, Troy, Tennessee 38260, Agape House , 210 Oakland Street, Martin, Tennessee 38237 or Antioch Union Church, c/o Roger Williams, 5132 Old Troy Hickman Road, Union City, Tennessee 38261.

Charlotte was born August 30, 1933, in Union City, daughter of the late James Richard and Lois (Jackson) Cashon. She married Richard M. Smith, Sr. October 10, 1986. He survives. Charlotte was graduate of the former Hornbeak High School and Texas Western University. She had been employed as a school teacher and with the Tennessee Department of Employment Security in Union City. Charlotte was a member of Antioch Union Church and attended Grace Presbyterian Church in Troy.

She is also survived by three daughters, Ann Bird (Joe) of Memphis, Wendy Dalton (Frank) of Troy and Beth Hutcheson of Union City; two sons, Joe D. Spicer, Jr. (Brenda) of Union City and Richie Spicer of Hendersonville; two stepdaughters, Sarah Bannister of Dorchester,Massachusetts and Susannah Murphy of Plymouth, Massachusetts; two stepsons, Richard M. Smith, Jr. (Barbara) of Tallahassee, Florida and Jason Smith (Tina) of Pigeon Forge; two sisters, Peggy Burrus of Tiptonville and Becky Vickers (Jack) of Dallas, Texas; 23 grandchildren; and 32 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one stepson, Jon Smith; and her great granddaughter, Joey Bree Wilson.
