Obituary

Mr. Charles Edward "Charlie" Roberts, 83, of Union City died 8:45 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2013, at his home.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at East View Cemetery in Union City. Dr. Bobby Williams will officiate. There will be no visitation.

Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Roberts was born October 23, 1930, in Union City, son of the late Boonie Eli and Leon (Smith) Roberts. He married Martha (Davis) Roberts August 6, 1949. She survives. Mr. Roberts retired after 33 years of service with the City of Union City. He began his career as a police office and then served as Obion County Civil Defense Director for over two decades. He was a member of Bethlehem Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4862 in Union City.

He is also survived by two daughters, Glenda S. Killion of Obion and Rhonda Stewart of Union City; two grandsons and the spouse of one, Richard Arliss Sullivan of Obion and Brent Edward Sullivan and his wife Angela Marie Sullivan of Erie, Pennsylvania; four great grandchildren, Richard Arliss Sullivan, Jr. of Obion and Charlie Edward Sullivan and T.J. Sullivan and Faith Marie Sullivan all of Erie, Pennsylvania; and his sister, Patsy Scribner of Union City.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Roberts.
