Obituary

Charles William "Hoot" Powers, 69, of Union City passed away 10:25 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2022, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2022, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Ken Hogg will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday.

Charles was born January 27, 1952, in Lake County, son of the late Suggs and Genevieve (Bratton) Powers. He married Susie (Vancleave) Powers June 25, 1977. She survives. Charles had been employed at the former Reelfoot Packing Company, had been a farmer, worked in logging and was a heavy equipment operator with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Agency.

He is also survived by two sons, Charles Joseph Vancleave and James Melvin Powers both of Union City; five sisters, Clara Sharp of Troy, Joy Younger Crick of Union City, Julie Petrowski (Richard) of Milan, Shawna Powers of Union City and Carrie Hogg (Ken) of Samburg; and his goddaughter, Mattie Burkett of Martin.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard Powers.
