Obituary

Charles Hardy Nolan, 87, of Troy went home to be with the Lord 1:42 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2023, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Troy First Baptist Church. Brother Tony Jones and Brother Rick Roberts will officiate. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Troy First Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m.until the hour of services Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Charles Aaron, Kenneth Fussell, Perry Barfield, John Cummings, Ed Eller, Don Dill and Kenneth Jones.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Gideons International.

Charles was born July 26, 1935, in Obion County, son of the late Charles Ashton and Maggie Lee (Hardy) Nolan. He married Pat (Osborne) Nolan December 3, 1993. She survives. Charles was a 1955 graduate of Union City High School. He attended Memphis State University until 1957 when he was drafted into the United States Army. He was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne. Charlie had been employed as a livestock buyer for the former Reelfoot Packing Company for 34 years and Tennessee Livestock Producers for 10 years. After retirement Charles was the affiliate coordinator for Obion County Habitat for Humanity. Charlie was a servant in Troy First Baptist Church where he had been a Sunday School Director and served on several committees. He had been on mission trips to Mexico, New York and Iowa. Charlie loved serving the Lord and sharing Jesus with everyone. Charlie was a Gideon.

He is also survived by his children, Debbie Barnes and husband Roger of Water Valley, Kentucky, Stephanie Mosley and husband David of Newbern, Dodi Maestro-Pejovic and husband Alexander of Boca Raton, Florida, Carrie Lynn Mosley of Union City, Charity Van Horn and husband Adam of Sewanne, Georgia, Richard Shane Mosley and wife Heather of Rives and Mike Nolan of Hickman, Kentucky; 26 grandchildren, Adam Barnes, Amanda Ward, Deanna Beasley, Ann Lillian Pierce, Landry Nolan, Sabrina Powers, Paige Greer, Seth Nolan, Amailley, Rafael and Azriel Maestro-Pejovic, Brayden, Olivia and Eden Van Horn, Michael Flowers, Allison Craig, Zach Mosley, Ricky Nunnery, Michael Mosley, Joey Mosley and Cadey, Nicole, Stacey and Gracey Mealer, Landon and Madeline Norman; 18 great grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Moore of Roswell, Georgia.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Dana Pierce; and one son, Matt Nolan.
