Carol Scherffius Byars, 72, of Union City passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023, at her home.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday at East View Cemetery. Justin Beard will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Sunday.

Pallbearers will be David Byars, Jr., Travis Byars, Jason Towery, Bill Evans, Jason Molands and Jamie Byars.

Carol was born September 17, 1951, Obion County, daughter of the late Joseph Lenore and Nellie Louise (Lock) Scherffius. She married David Lee Byars, Sr. May 28, 1977. He preceded her in death March 27, 2023. Carol was a homemaker and a member of Bishop Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by two sons, David Lee Byars, Jr. of Mobile, Alabama and Travis Ross Byars and wife Brittney of Mineral Bluff, Georgia; three grandchildren, Shelby Byars, Olivia Byars and Cameron Byars all of Mineral Bluff, Georgia; one sister, Doris Johnson and husband Carl of Memphis; and one brother, Freddie Scherffius and wife Brenda of Troy.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Elsie Caughron, Ruth Scherffius and Barbara White; and two brothers, Henry Scherffius and Trice Scherffius.
