Carl Leon Toon, age 79, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville.
He was born May 2, 1946, in Fancy Farm, Kentucky, son of the late Hillery Bertram and Frances Agatha (Hayden) Toon.
Carl graduated from Boys Town Nebraska in 1964. He served his country in the United States Army for 3 years earning the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Carl attended Murray State University. Carl married Charlotte Ann (Stamper) Toon March 20, 1970. She preceded him in death February 10, 2016. He was a area manager for the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Union City from 1970 until his retirement in 2005. Carl was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He is survived by two sons, Kevin (Doris) Toon of Union City and Shannon (Sydney) Toon of Memphis; one grandson, Liam Toon of Memphis; one brother, Norbert Toon of Windsor, Colorado; one sister, Mary Cecelia Chappell of Paducah, Kentucky; along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Carl was also preceded in death by one son, Darryl Toon; and one grandson, Kyle Toon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Carl's memory to Boys Town Nebraska (boystown.org/nebraska) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org/donate)
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Union City. Father Carl Gregorich will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. until 10:40 a.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Derek Stamper, Dylan Stamper, Craig Stamper, Chris Chappell, Andrew Chappell and Kelley Cross.
