Jason O. "Buddy" Young, Jr., 73, of Memphis passed away 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. He was a former resident of Union City.

Per Buddy's request there will be no services.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.

Buddy was born August 18, 1950, in Cambridge, Vermont, son of the late Jason O. Young, Sr. and late Mary Frances (Green) Young. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1973 with a degree in chemical engineering and was employed at the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He returned to UT Knoxville in 1976 and graduated with a doctorate of jurisprudence. He returned to Union City where he was a partner in the law firm of Maness, Young & Maness. Buddy was the former city judge for Union City and was active with the Republican party in Obion County. He moved to Memphis where he was an attorney for many years. Buddy was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Tennessee Volunteer football fan.

He is survived by two sisters, Pat McCarver and Cheryl Workman and husband Ronnie of Union City; his stepmother, Katie Young of Union City; two nieces; three nephews; and four great nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Michael McCarver.
