Funeral services for Mr. Roberson will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church in Union City. Brother Chip Davis and Brother Charles Southerland will officiate. Burial will follow in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely.
The family will receive friends at Second Baptist Church from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday.
Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Dave Roberson, Randy Shane Roberson, Josh Roberson, Anthony Roberson, Matthew Tippit and Colton Quick.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the former Reelfoot Lumber Company.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Wynnburg Baptist Church .
Mr. Roberson was born July 16, 1927, in Lake County, son of the late Odie B. and Fannie Odessa (Yates) Roberson. He married Estella (Mathis) Roberson on February 2, 1947. She died March 4, 2011. He was the owner/operator of the former Roberson Brothers Sawmill and the former Reelfoot Lumber Company. The closing of Reelfoot Lumber Company in 2011 ended ninety eight years in the hardwood lumber industry for the Roberson family. Mr. Roberson was a lifetime member of Wynnburg Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and Sunday School Director. He was appointed to the board of directors of the former Obion County General Hospital in July 1977. He served as chairman of the board of directors for Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City from 1986 to 1996. He served on the board of directors of Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis from 1987 to 1990. He retired from the hospital board in November 1998. Mr. Roberson was a former board of director for Reelfoot Bank. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Donna Roberson of Hornbeak, and Randy and Daphne Roberson and Terry and Mary Nell Roberson all of Union City; his sister, Imogene Ross of Martin; his brother, Thomas Roberson of Hornbeak; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Artie Smith, Lucille Weaver and Alma "Tootsie" Rhodes; and three brothers, Ilar Roberson, Toy Roberson and Carl Roberson.
