Brother James Arvin Kinsey, 85, of Knoxville and formerly of Union City passed away 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at The Courtyards Senior Living in Oak Ridge.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. James' children will officiate. Burial will follow in Rutherford City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday and after 12:00 p.m. Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Jackson Merrill, C.A. Merrill, Steven Kinsey, Nicholas Beam, Jeremiah Thompson and Brandon White.
Brother James was born February 16, 1936, in Mason Hall, son of the late Reuben and Mary Edna (McBride) Kinsey. He married Eleanor (Wheeler) Kinsey November 25, 1954. She survives. He was a 1954 graduate of Mason Hall High School and graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Tx. James was the founding pastor of Sunswept Baptist Church and was a minister for 57 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Carol Merrill (Christian) of Knoxville; two sons, Mark Kinsey (Cherri) of Zachary, Louisiana and Steve Kinsey of Nebo, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one brother, Jerry Kinsey (Shirley) of Mt. Juliet.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Frances Kinsey.
