Obituary

Brother Harvey Evans, 83, of Union City went home to be with the Lord 11:45 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Union City. Dr. Melvin Poe will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday and at Calvary Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Ray Taylor, Pat Haygood, Dakota Preciado, Junior Jones, John Nicks, Chris Baxter, Eric Baxter and Kenneth Shannon.

Harvey was born December 4, 1934, in Elbridge, son of the late Henry Joseph and Essie Mae (Hilock) Evans. He married Shirley (James) Evans September 18, 1956. She survives. Harvey was a 1953 graduate of the former Woodland Mills High School. He served two tours in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Harvey retired as credit manager for Reynolds Brothers Oil Company after 36 years of service. He was a bi vocational Baptist minister and had pastored at Bethel Baptist Church, Johnson Grove Baptist Church and Fairview Baptist Church. Harvey was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Union City where he had served as a Men's Sunday School teacher.

He is also survived by two daughters, Carol Baxter and husband James of Union City and Dianne Littrell and husband Troy of Paris; one son, Ken Evans and wife Alicia Williams-Evans of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Chris Baxter and wife Michelle and William Eric Baxter and wife Laura all of Greenfield, Abigail Littrell of Paris; and Joy Moses and husband Preston of Douglasville, Georgia and Ronald Aaron Myers and wife Amanda of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nine great grandchildren, Brantley Baxter, Kayleigh Baxter, Maddie Cash and Hayden Howard all of Greenfield, Ariel Taylor and husband Austin of Sharon, Joshua Moses and Jonathan Moses both of Douglasville, Georgia and Cannon Myers and Hadley Myers both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother, Robert Storey of Rutherford; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death his foster parents, D.M. and Nora Elizabeth McBride; his sister Gertie (Evans) Vares; his brother, Elgie Evans; and two foster brothers, E.L. McBride and Silas Ray McBride.
