March 4, 1958 – January 2, 2022
Brother Terry Lynn Council, 63, of Union City passed away 9:26 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Dr. Melvin Poe will officiate. Burial will follow in Terrace Hill Cemetery near Troy.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Andy Martin, David Hagen, Charlie Hill, Brent Long, Dennis Whitsen and Jeff Tarver.
Terry was born March 4, 1958, in Union City, son of the late Tommy Joe Council and Nancy (Inscoe) Council Shelton and her husband, J.W. Shelton of Union City. He married Julie Lynn (Dorris) Council July 21, 1975. She passed away September 8, 2012. He then married Lorrie Tojo (Ferguson) Council July 27, 2015. She survives. He was the current pastor for Wynnburg Baptist Church near Tiptonville. Terry was pastor of the former Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Troy, former associate pastor for Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Rives as well as a interim pastor to several local churches. He also went on a number of mission trips and loved playing golf.
He is also survived by four daughters, Mandi Lynn Council of Union City, Elizabeth Petty of Union City, Lana Copeland of Dukedom and Lindsey Jenkins of Troy; two sons, Tommy "T.C." Council (Sarah) of Columbia, South Carolina and Lance Copeland (Samantha) of Benton, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rogers, Hunter Tolley, Hanna Tolley, Kelly Council and Izzy Council; one great granddaughter, Maelynn Rogers; one brother, Ricky Council of Union City; and one sister, Missy Hill (Charlie) of Union City.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donny Council and Ross Shelton.
