Graveside services will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Shady Grove Cemetery near Union City. Rev. Kenny Locke will officiate.

Mr. Gargus was born March 15, 1952, in Obion County, son of the late James Harold and Mamie Ann (Orr) Gargus. He married the former Linda Poteet on April 15, 1981. She survives. He had been a self employed carpenter.

He is also survived by one step-daughter and her husband, Cheri (Babb) and Steve Mason of Harmony, North Carolina; two step-sons and their wives; Johnny and Connie Babb and Brian and Michelle Babb all of Union City; two daughters, Melissa White and Amanda Rainey both of Caruthersville, Missouri; he was Pa Pa to six grandchildren, Cameron Babb, Carter Babb, Kimberly Babb and Blake Babb all of Union City and Cody Mason and Ginny Mason of Harmony, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Joe Gargus Jr., two sisters, Joyce Gargus and Shirley Jones and three brothers, Jimmy Gargus, Larry Gargus and Johnny Gargus .

The family will receive friends in the Rosewood Room at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Pallbearers to serve will be Johnny Babb, Brian Babb, Blake Babb, Larry Watkins, Michael Jones and Bobby Jones, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Carter Babb, Cameron Babb and Cody Mason.
