Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Jerry Leggett will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Yates, Will Yates, Damon Shore, Benjamin Yates, Sonny Stepp and Wendell Duke.

The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Yates was born July 14, 1935, in Obion, son of the late Glen and Katherine (Albright) Yates. He married the former Carolyn Stepp July 19, 1957. She survives. He had retired from Lucent Technologies and Gore Telecommunications and was a member of Hornbeak Church of Christ.

He is also survived by four children, Liz Yates, Lynn Yates and Lisa Duke, all of Union City, and Chuck Yates of San Antonio, Texas; his brother, Bob Yates of Hornbeak; eight grandchildren, Will Yates, Miranda Yates, Damon Shore, Benjamin Yates, Kimberly Storey and Cameron Duke all of Union City, and Lauren Yates and Noah Yates, both of San Antonio, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Nathan Duke, Darrius Yates, Xavier Yates and Brayden Storey; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Chris Yates; and two grandsons, Michael Jeremiah Yates and Joshua Levi Yates.
