James W. "Bill" Wilson, 88, of Union City died on May 3, 2016 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Memphis. He was a retired school administrator.
He was born September 23, 1927, to the late Rice Wilson and Alice Burcham Wilson of Walnut Log. He married Thelma Kate Crafton of Tiptonville on August 12, 1962. She survives.
He was a Baptist and a veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Dixie High School in Obion County and Murray State University. He taught vocational agriculture at Dixie High School and Tiptonville High School and was an administrator in the Lake County School System, retiring as Superintendent in 1989. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Murray State University Alumni Association, Phi Delta Kappa and was a past-president of the Tiptonville Lions Club.
Graveside services will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Thursday at East View Cemetery. Bobby Stewart will officiate.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Bentley Beard, Mark Phipps, Johnny Bacon, Jim Towater, Roland Pope and Wendol Thorpe.
He is also survived by a son, James W. Wilson, Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee.
