Mr. Billy Joe "Bill" Taylor, 69, of Union City died 5:00 a.m. Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Regional Hospital of Jackson.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church . Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens . Brother G.W. Moon and Dr. Melvin Poe will officiate.

Mr. Taylor was born January 18, 1940, in Crutchfield, Ky., son of Grace May (Brasure) Mann of South Fulton and the late Russell Decatur Taylor. He married the former Marlane Cleveland on May 14, 1961. She survives. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 28 years of service. Mr. Taylor was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was the former pastor of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near Obion and Public Wells Missionary Baptist Church in Martin. He was a member of Campers on Mission and served in the United States Army.

He is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Wendell Faught of Atoka and Tammy and Mark Daniels of Union City; four grandchildren, Allison Faught of Nashville, Caitlyn Faught and Chandler Lawrence Faught both of Atoka and Elizabeth Grace Daniels of Union City; his sister, Judy Rule of Dukedom and his brother, Ron Taylor of Dukedom.

The family will receive friends at Calvary Baptist Church from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Pallbearers to serve will be J.T. Jones, Rick Wright, Dale Vinson, Blake Cheatham, James Vinson and Wesley Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers to serve will be members of Campers on Mission, Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church and member of J.T. Jones' Sunday School class.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 2250 E. Reelfoot Avenue, Union City, TN. 38261 or The American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W., Suite 800, Washington, D.C. 20004.
