Obituary

Mr. Billy Jack "Bill" Gwaltney, 88, of Union City died 8:35 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Funeral services for Mr. Gwaltney will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Buddy Walls will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Mr. Gwaltney was born June 26, 1925, in Obion County, son of the late E.C.â??Docâ?? and Faira (Sanders) Gwaltney. He married June (Ice) Gwaltney on July 23, 1955. She survives. Mr. Gwaltney was a car salesman in Obion County 35 years starting in 1971. He was a US Army, WW II veteran, lifetime member of Jones-Walker VFW Post 4862 and was a professional musician all of his life.

He is also survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jack Gwaltney and his fiancé Shelia Fuzzell of Union City and Danny and Patricia Gwaltney of Troy; two brothers and sister-in-law, Don Ray and Jettie Gwaltney of Hornbeak and Paul Gwaltney of Union City; two grandchildren and their spouses, Brandi and Josh Stewart of Martin and Justin and Sarah Gwaltney of Rives and four great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Retha Wallace and three brothers, Len Gwaltney, Tom Gwaltney and Bernie Gwaltney.
