Mr. Billy Malcolm "Bill" Cherry, 82, of Union City passed away 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday at East View Cemetery. Brad Brewer and Eddie Hutchens will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Howie Campbell, Caleb Carson, Scott Fisher, Jeff Jackson, Andy Jackson and Jeff Greene.
There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.
Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Bill was born March 6, 1938, in Cloverdale, son of the late Malcolm and Mary Edna (Barnes) Cherry. He married Norma Jean (Roberts) Cherry March 9, 1958. She survives. Bill retired from Wal Mart and from the former Homestead in Union City. He had been employed in retail for fifty years. Bill had served in the Tennessee and Mississippi National Guard and was a member of Bethel Church of Christ in Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Cherry of Union City; one daughter and son-in-law, Libby and Bill Carson of Winona, Mississippi; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Karen Cherry of Peachtree Corners, Georgia; one sister, Patsy Roney of Union City; four grandchildren and the spouses of three, Alan and Hannah Cherry of Snellville, Georgia, Kaitlyn and Howie Campbell of Abbeville, Mississippi, Lauren and Stephen Harber of Tucker, Georgia and Caleb Carson of Gore Springs, Mississippi; and five great grandchildren, Raylan Campbell, Maylee Carson, Eleanor Harber, Kennedi Campbell and Henry Harber.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Dolores Neill; and one brother, Bob Cherry.
