Billy Kenneth "Bill" Barnett, 73, of Elbridge went home to be with his Lord Monday, May 1, 2017, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near Obion. Brother Ricky Stover will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Spencer Terry, John Keeling, Tony Zalsman, Jacob Fuller, Brent Bargery and Mike Barnett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Speed, Glen Oldham, John Buchanan, Herbie Arnett, Roy James, Jackie Ellis, Danny Tate and Ed Cook.
Bill was born June 27, 1943, in Obion County, son of the late Kenneth and Mora (Davis) Barnett. He married Brenda (Gray) Barnett November 26, 1966. She survives. Bill retired from AT&T Telephone Company after 30 years of service and had his own landscaping business. He was an avid gardener who gave most of his produce away to friends and the needy. Bill volunteered with many sports programs and loved watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball. Bill was a member of Minnick Bible Church.
He is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kip and Jennifer Barnett of Nashville and Matt and Tina Barnett of Martin; two grandchildren, Brittany Barnett of Troy and Brennan Barnett of Union City; one great grandson, Frank Terry of Troy; one sister, Joanne Mathias of Troy; and one brother, Jimmy Barnett of Hornbeak.
He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Braedon Barnett; and two brothers, Johnny Barnett and Earl Barnett.
