Bettye Lasater, 88, of Union City went home to be with the Lord 9:59 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Obion County Nursing Home.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date when it is safe for her family and friends to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made to The Alzheimer's Association.

Betty was born November 14, 1932, in Hornbeak, daughter of the late Ernest Knox and Roxie (Fuller) Johnson. She married Bob Lasater June 3, 1956. He preceded her in death March 16, 2012. Betty was a hard working housewife and a member of Second Baptist Church, where she was a women's and later teenage girls; Sunday school teacher and was a member of the choir. For over 20 years, she was over the Sunday school program at the Obion County Nursing Home, and for 40 years she walked for one to eight and a half miles per week.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynette Lasater of Decatur, Georgia; one son, Kevin Lasater of Union City; and one sister, Doris Drown of Atlanta, Georgia.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Wyncye Halladay and Oletha Zilliott; and one brother, B.T. Johnson.
