Betty Lou Stockdale, 74, of the Shawtown community passed 11:36 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Wilson Walley will officiate. Burial will follow in Cobbs Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Stockdale, Jr., Cain Stockdale, Jimmy Stockdale, Richard Baker, Adam Cary and Jayson Challender.

Betty was born January 15, 1949, in Union City, daughter of the late Thomas and Alice (Rooks) Dowell. She married Bobby Stockdale, Sr. in 1981. He survives. Betty was a graduate of Union City High School and Bethel University. She had been employed as a Head Start teacher, the Obion County Sheriff's Department and was director of the local American Red Cross.

She is also survived by two sons, Rob Adcock of Rector, Arkansas and Chris Stockdale and wife Kathryn of Hornbeak; one step daughter, Beth Partelow of Belleville, Illinois; one step son, Bobby Stockdale, Jr. and wife Karen of South Fulton; seven grandchildren, Lily Stockdale of Hornbeak, Payton Partelow and Bailey Meldrom and husband Jared all of Belleville, Illinois, Tori Stockdale of New Bern, North Carolina, Ariel Beasley of South Fulton and Alex Long and husband Cole of Lyerly, Georgia; one great granddaughter, Mila Beasley of South Fulton; and one brother, Dr. David Dowell of Canada.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Dowell; and one brother, Tom Dowell.
