Betty Jane Nelson, 77, of the Pleasant Hill community passed away 5:00 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 2026, at her home.

There will be no services held. Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.

Betty was born April 13, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Thomas and Louise (Mobbs) Lewis. She married Joe Merle Nelson, Jr. May 25, 1968. Betty retired as housekeeping supervisor for Hampton Inn in Union City.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joe Nelson of the Pleasant Hill community; two daughters, Janie Shultz (Alvin) of Grand Bay, Alabama and Donna Childress of the Pleasant Hill community; one son, Frankie Forrester (Monica) of Union City; her daugher-in-law, Vanessa Forrester of Gadsden, Alabama; her sister, Bonnie Griffin (Bobby) of Troy; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Tommy Forrester; one grandson, Zach Jackson; two sisters, Wilma Heathcock and Joyce Blue; and one brother, Buddy Lewis.
