Mrs. Betty Jean Norman Keathley, 87, of Union City passed away 7:04 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in the comfort of her home.
Funeral services will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Mrs. Keathley's family members will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of services Friday.
Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of the employees of Mrs. Keathley’s businesses and her personal caregivers who took great care of her in and out of rehabilitation homes, hospitals, and her own home.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Mrs. Keathley was born March 1, 1939, in Bradford, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Robert Paris Norman and Theda Ulene (Cash) Norman. She married Robert J. Keathley on June 30, 1957. He preceded her in death December 18, 2013.
She and her husband founded Green Acres Mobile Homes Inc. in October 1960. Green Acres grew to 13 locations in three different states. In June 1972 they opened 5 Seasons Men’s Shop in Union City. They owned Mas Verde retirement community in Lake Worth, Florida, as well as properties in Pinellas Park, Florida and Lakeland, Florida, and the former Hospitality House in Union City. She was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church and served as the church pianist for fifty-four years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bridgette (Keathley) and David Darnall of Union City, two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Janet Keathley and Bryan and Angela Keathley all of Union City.
She was affectionately known as “GrandBetty” to her eight grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy and Kayla Keathley, Justin Keathley, Katie Keathley, Matthew and Alex Keathley, Keathley Darnall and Gracie Darnall all of Union City, Andrew and Maria Keathley of Collierville, and Alex and Ali Darnall of Indianapolis, Indiana; six great-grandchildren, Nora and Ollie Keathley of Union City, Emma, and Will Keathley of Collierville and Elliot and Shepherd Darnall of Indianapolis, Indiana; her brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Pat Norman of Bradford; her dear friend and co-worker of 60 plus years, Sharon Ransom of Union City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Nelda Jewell of Rutherford and her brothers and sisters in-law, Harold Keathley (Genny) of Hobe Sound, Florida and Geraldine “Jere” Keathley Campbell (Bill) of Ballwin, Missouri.
