Mrs. Bertha Elizabeth Tanner, 92, of Union City passed away 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother James Kinsey and Dr. Melvin Poe will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Thompson, Bobby James, Dale Pate, Kenneth Brooks, Robert Goodman, Richard Ams, C.F. Blankenship, Wesley McClure, Kenneth Cheatham and Thomas Watts.
Mrs. Tanner was born August 13, 1922, in Madison County, daughter of the late James Issac and Artie (Perkins) Walker. She married James "Jimmy" Tanner September 13, 1952. He died September 16, 1994. Mrs. Tanner had been employed as a nurse's aide at the former Obion County General Hospital and as custodian at Calvary Baptist Church. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Otholene Walker of Obion; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Roger Dale Donnell; two sisters, Lucille McBride and Ethel Donnell; and four brothers, James Walker, David Walker, Roy Edward Walker and Earl Walker.
