Barry Lee Owsley, 71, of Union City passed away 1:03 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto in Southaven, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2015, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. David Kendall will officiate. Burial will follow in Terrace Hill Cemetery near Troy.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015, at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Owsley, Andrew Owsley, Blake Owsley, Daniel Smith, Gary Woodall, Peyton Woodall, Jeremy Bell, Brayden Bell and Temis Guerrero.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Vastbinder, Darrell Davis, John Davis, Kent Treece, David Godwin, Wayne Davidson, Landon Kelly and Carnece Guy.
Mr. Owsley was born August 23, 1944, in Obion County, son of the late Jessie B. and Marjorie Ann (Rumley) Owsley. He married Gay (Grooms) Owsley August 4, 1989. She died December 1, 2007. Mr. Owsley had been the owner of the former Pre-Med Ambulance Service until 1983. He then worked as a deputy for the Obion County Sheriff's Department for 27 years. He was a member of Rives Church of Christ.
He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Freddy Smith of Southaven, Mississippi, Tammy Owsley and Wayne Luebbert of Hornbeak, Donita and Gary Woodall of Kingston Springs and Jenifer and Jeremy Bell of White Bluff; one sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Jerry Grady of Troy; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sandra Owsley of the Polk Station community; eight grandchildren, Daniel Smith and Staci Smith both of Southaven, Mississippi, Andrew Owsley and Blake Owsley both of Nashville, Brittni Woodall and Peyton Woodall both of Kingston Springs and Emily Bell and Brayden Bell both of White Bluff; and one great grandson, Cain Campbell of Southaven, Mississippi.
