Ann Marie Goff Black

August 9, 1950 – July 4, 2026

Ann Marie Goff Black, age 75, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City, Tennessee, with her son by her side holding her hand.

Born on August 9, 1950, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, Ann was the daughter of the late Marion Ulysses Goff and Eileen Catherine Moran Goff.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Ralph Black; her brother, James "Jimmy" Goff; her sister, Eileen Goff Staron; her nieces, Genevieve Catherine Goff Fuller, Kelly Goff, and Michelle "Mickie" Staron Hurst and daughter Alexandria Hurst; and her nephew, Brian Staron.

Ann is survived by her loving son, Tommy Black and his fiancée, Kim Badzinski Jordan; her son, James Ralph "Bo" Black and his wife, Kelly, of Kalamazoo, MI; her brother, Thomas Goff, formerly of Memphis, TN; and her sister-in-law, Nancy Black Turner of Rogersville, TN.

She leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandchildren, Maya Black Melendrez and her husband, Brandon, Thomas Cadon Black, both of Union City, TN, Sam Jordan and Rachel Jordan of Sharon, WI, Kyle Black, Keith Black, and Alex Black of California; her great-grandson, Emmett Melendrez of Union City, TN; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

Above all, Ann was a woman of steadfast faith. Her defining message to everyone she encountered was simple, profound, and constant: "I love you, but more importantly, God loves you."

A celebration of Ann's life will be held the weekend of her birthday at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the First Pentecostal Church of Union City, located at 2501 W Main Street, Union City, TN 38261. Dress is casual, and food and drinks will be served.

Following in the selfless footsteps of her late husband, James, Ann chose to give the gift of hope, education, and medical advancement through whole-body donation to the Genesis program at the Medical Education & Research Institute (MERI) in Memphis, Tennessee. Her generosity will continue to impact future generations of healthcare professionals and medical researchers.
